So, scrolling through the internet – a pastime I highly recommend, BTW, it’s how I avoid adulting – I stumbled across this, like, *thing* about “ferragamo clothing selection for the very best in unique or custom, handmade pieces from our pumps shops.” Pumps shops making CLOTHES? Hold up. My brain just did a backflip.
Honestly, my first thought was, “Ferragamo makes *clothes*? I thought they just did shoes, you know? Those ridiculously expensive, but undeniably gorgeous shoes that I will probably never own. (Unless I win the lottery. Then, all bets are off.)”
But apparently, they DO! Or, at least, according to this Reddit post and other snippets floating around the interwebs. And even more surprisingly, there’s this whole vibe of “handmade” attached to it. Which, like, is kinda cool? You think of Ferragamo as this super high-end, mass-produced luxury brand, and then BAM! Handmade pops up. It’s a little… jarring, almost.
Now, the real kicker is that “pumps shops” part. I mean, are these cobblers suddenly sewing seams instead of stitching leather? It’s a mystery wrapped in an enigma, sprinkled with a dash of “wait, what?”. Maybe it’s like, an *artisan collective* or something? I’m picturing tiny Italian ladies hunched over sewing machines, fueled by espresso and dreams of haute couture. Totally romantic, right? (Probably not reality, but a girl can dream!)
And look, Bloomingdale’s is selling Ferragamo clothes, or at least, some variation of it. Says something about men’s fashion on Farfetch. See? A bit all over the place, but it all circles back.
I gotta say, though, “handmade Ferragamo clothes” sounds incredibly bougie. Like, imagine the price tag! It’s probably more than my rent, my car payment, and my grocery bill combined. But hey, if you’ve got the cash, why not, right? I mean, who wouldn’t want to strut around in a dress made by, like, *actual artisans* instead of a machine? Just be prepared to sell a kidney or two to afford it.
