See, I’ve seen these “Saint Laurent” hats floating around, especially snapbacks and caps. You know, the ones with the YSL logo that *maybe* looks a little… off. And you see them advertised with like, “express shipping!” and “free returns!” – all the bells and whistles to make you think, “Dang, this is legit!”
But then you dig a little deeper. You see them on eBay, for way less than you’d EVER pay for a *real* Saint Laurent hat. I mean, come ON. Real YSL doesn’t just magically appear on eBay at bargain-basement prices, does it? That’s where my spidey-sense starts tingling, ya know?
And then there’s the “wholesale” thing. I saw one site blabbing about being “Asia’s leading online and offline wholesale fashion destination!” for clothes, baby stuff, everything! It’s supposed to be Saint Laurent, but like, is it *really* Saint Laurent? I’m not convinced. I mean, Saint Laurent selling wholesale for baby clothes… doesn’t quite feel like the luxury vibe they usually push.
My theory? These “overrun stock” hats are probably either:
1. Stuff that fell off the back of a truck. Seriously. Maybe factories making the *real* hats had a few “extra” they weren’t supposed to, and they ended up… elsewhere.
2. Really, REALLY good fakes. Like, scary good. The kind that might fool your average person, but a real fashionista (which I am definitely *not*) would spot in a heartbeat.
3. Overrun, *actually* from Saint Laurent, but they’re like, last season’s rejects. The ones that didn’t sell well and they’re trying to dump them off for whatever they can get.
Honestly, it’s probably a mix of all three.
The thing is, even if it *is* a little bit shady, are they *bad* hats? Maybe not! If the quality is decent and you’re not trying to fool anyone into thinking you’re dripping in designer gear, then who cares, right? It’s a hat!
