First things first, what IS a Saint Louis bag? Basically, it’s Goyard’s super popular tote. And when I say popular, I mean *pop-u-lar*. It’s that canvasy, chevron-y tote you see practically plastered all over Instagram. Apparently it is perfect for everyday use, with a great size to carry everything.
Now, I gotta be honest, I have mixed feelings. Part of me gets the hype. It’s classic, it’s relatively lightweight (which, let’s be real, is a HUGE selling point when you’re lugging around half your life in your bag), and it comes in a million colors. But then the other part of me is like, “Is it *really* worth the hype…and the price tag?!”. Like, it’s just a freakin’ canvas tote, right?
And speaking of colors, did you hear about the 2025 limited edition Saint Louis GM? Apparently, they’re doing Iris and Fuchsia Goyardine canvas, inspired by linen flowers. Iris and Fuchsia, eh? Sounds kinda pretty, I guess. I’m picturing a vibrant, almost summery vibe. I bet those are gonna be all over the place when they drop. *sigh* Another thing to add to the wishlist I’ll probably never actually get around to buying. (Oops, did I just admit I’m tempted? Don’t tell anyone.)
Now, let’s talk sizes. You got the PM, which is like, the smaller sister. And then the GM, which is the bigger, more “I can fit a whole weekend’s worth of stuff in here” version. I guess the GM would be useful for travel but, I don’t know, I’m generally team “smaller bag is better,” mostly ’cause I’m too lazy to dig around for stuff. Plus, the PM is allegedly made with a rustic fabric… hmmm, interesting.
The description mentioned the Goyardine canvas is applied to the ‘rustico’ (rustic) fabric that is made out of linen and cotton. That is definitely nice.
But here’s the thing that *really* gets me… the price. You can find them for sale (used, probably) online, but they’re still expensive af. Like, we’re talking a down payment on a car expensive, potentially. I feel like people are buying them to resell, or just to be able to say they have one. I mean, no judgment, you do you, but my bank account weeps just thinking about it.
And I will say, from what I’ve heard, Goyard is super hush-hush about their prices and you can’t just buy them online. You gotta go to a boutique, which just adds to the whole mystique, I guess.
