I’ve been kinda obsessed lately. I dunno, maybe it’s the whole “sustainable fashion” thing finally getting to me, or maybe it’s just that stuff from back then was just *better* made. Like, you see these new wallets, all flimsy and falling apart after a year? My grandma’s ancient Dior wallet is still kicking, and that thing’s probably older than I am! (Okay, maybe not, but you get the gist.)
Anyway, you can find some *real* gems out there. I’ve been browsing around – Etsy, eBay, all those usual suspects – and some of the vintage Dior wallets are *stunning*. You got the classic monogrammed ones, obviously, the ones with the brown and black, and you know those always just scream “old-school luxury.” There’s also the leather ones, sometimes a little worn around the edges which, frankly, just adds character. Like, a story to tell, y’know?
And the styles! Omg! Bifold? Trifold? Long zipper wallets – perfect to throw in your bag! Even those wallet-on-chain things, which, I gotta admit, I’m kinda digging. The Cannage design? Yeah, Dior’s like, *always* doing that Cannage thing, but on a vintage wallet? It just feels…I dunno, more authentic.
The thing is, finding a *good* one takes some digging. Like, a *lot* of digging. You gotta watch out for fakes, obviously. If it’s too good to be true, it probably is. And condition, condition, condition! A little wear and tear is fine, I like it. But falling apart? Nah, pass.
I’m actually thinking of getting one with that secretary style, they’re pretty hard to find, I think it’s so cool, and practical! I mean, who uses a secretary anymore? But the wallet’s still useful, see?
So yeah, if you’re thinking about a new wallet, maybe skip the mall and hit up the vintage shops. You might just find a Dior treasure. Plus, you’ll be doing a good thing by not buyin’ new stuff! And who knows, maybe you’ll even find one that’s older than your grandma. Just sayin’.
